Such a beautiful peninsula, even in very late fall with snowflurries throughout the day there was so much to photograph…..

Around Leelanau……
Favorites of Leelanau Peninsula
Well, 14 wineries in 2 days….fun, fun, fun! O.k. here’s my favorites from the weekend:
Favorite Riesling: Longview -Late Harvest Reisling

Favorite Ice Wine: Black Star Farms (Ice Wine is a very sweet dessert wine, but oh so very good and oh so horribly expensive…approx 95 bucks for a 375ml bottle–ouch!) Oh, and please, please, please, if you are thinking of getting married check this place out, I’d love to capture your wedding images here. This place is gorgeous!!!!

Best substitution for Ice Wine: Bel Lago’s Late Harvest Pinot Grigio (very close in taste to Ice wine and only 30 bucks for a 375ml bottle–my splurge)

Favorite Red Wine: Cherry Republic -Cherry Red
Vineyard with the best view: Leelanau Cellars in Omena, Willow Vineyard is a close second.

Nicest wine tasting room: Black Star Farms
Come back tomorrow for some cool "Scenes of Leelanau" Photos……
Toast the Season
Alan and I were able to sneak away this weekend (Big THANKS to Grandma and Grandpa for staying with the kids) to attend the Toast the Season event in Leelanau Peninsula. You can read more about that here . We really enjoy going to this event. My sister, Dee, was able to join us as we drove around the beautiful Leelanau Peninsula. The weather was cold and windy all weekend with spurts of snowshowers, but overall a great time.
This will probably be photo heavy, but I hope you enjoy a little glimpse at this region. If you haven’t had the opportunity to visit add it to your “places to go list”.
SIGNS:
If you ever get the chance…take a drive on M-22 (preferably during the fall)

One of the funniest things we seen:

Finally. After years of driving by this sign, I finally have a photo of it.
FRUIT ON THE VINE:
Alan is very accommodating and would pull over and wait patiently while I took as many photos as I wanted. Most of these were taken from the side of the road.

Check back tomorrow…I’ll be sharing my favorite wines and places from Leelanau Peninsula…see ya then
And the winner is………
It was a pretty tight race. Lots of vote all around, but when the counting was done there was only one winner and it’s…….

Congratulations!!!!
Second Runner Up: Penguin
Third Runner Up: Cowboy
Thanks again to everyone that participated.
I will be sending an 8×10 print to the winner. The top three (Frog, Penguin and Cowboy) can stop in at the Stork and Cradle and pick up your prize (gift certificate from the store).
