How to have a great photo session:
- Don’t do the matchy thing unless you don’t mind the matchy portrait hanging on the wall.
- Avoid white shirts, except as an under layer. White shirts don’t usually flatter skin tones of light-skinned people in photographs. Light-skinned people look best in rich, earthy tones that contrast with skin tones. Dark-skinned people look best in rich colors too because a white shirt can often result in too much contrast.
- Avoid competing patterns and shirts with logos.
- Avoid any one person being in a particularly light or dark color.
- Classic clothes in solid colors have the best effect.
- Ladies, wear more make up than you normally would.
- When posing for family photos all adults should have their eyes on the camera. DO NOT worry about little ones not looking. I will take care of that. It’s important you keep looking at me so that when the right moment happens I can capture the image and EVERYONE will be looking at the camera. That is when you get the best images.
- Please make sure everyone is well rested and has a full tummy prior to the shoot. It’s important not to schedule your session during baby’s nap time.
- If your photo session is outdoors think of places that have nice open shade. Places such as parks with tall trees or spaces with tall buildings that block the sun. The best light is early morning or late afternoon.
- Please, please, please don’t ask your children to say “cheese”. If you have another fun word to replace with cheese that is great.
- Plan on having FUN!
